Honkai: Star Rail differentiates itself from HoYoverse’s other massive gacha hit Genshin Impact by adopting a turn-based combat system. However, that doesn’t mean support characters are any less important in this game. From healing to shielding and debuffing enemies, support characters in Honkai: Star Rail can transform a team into a powerhouse.
As new updates, characters, and enemies come out, the in-game meta continues to change. Honkai: Star Rail 2.7 is no different in this case, as some support characters who were must-haves in previous versions are now considered sub-par. To ensure players know which support characters to use, here are the ones in Honkai: Star Rail 2.7.
The best Honkai: Star Rail Support Characters
Below is a list of the eight best Honkai: Star Rail characters for version 2.7.
1. Robin
- Rarity: 5-star
- Type: Physical
- Path: Harmony
- Best Played With: Follow-up attack-heavy teams (eg, Dr. Ratio, Topaz, Aventurine)
First up on this list is the fan-favorite Robin. This Harmony character can increase the entire party’s DMG dealt through her skill, allowing everyone to get more damage in. While she shines brightest in follow-up attack-based teams, one of her highlights is that Robin is flexible enough to be played with any team.
However, her skill isn’t what sets her apart from the other support characters. Robin’s ultimate is a game-changer since it can increase the Physical DMG every ally deals, while also guaranteeing critical hits. Robin’s utility is arguably among the best in the game, and putting her in the right type of team can make players burst through the opposition.
2. Ruan Mei
- Rarity: 5-star
- Type: Ice
- Path: Harmony
- Best Played With: Weakness Break-based teams (eg, Firefly, Trailblazer, Lingsha)
Another Harmony character, the sheer number of buffs Ruan Mei can grant her allies alone grants her a spot on this list. She can increase damage, all-type resist penetration, and speed for her allies, making even the weakest link stronger.
If that wasn’t enough, Ruan Mei can also extend the duration of the Weakness Break of enemies. This delays the action of enemies when they’re about to recover, allowing the player to wrap things up quickly. If you want to deal some extra damage you can also utilize this support’s talent, which deals ice break damage whenever an ally breaks an enemy's toughness bar. The best play is to constantly weaken enemies while unleashing an onslaught of attacks.
3. Sparkle
- Rarity: 5-star
- Type: Quantum
- Path: Harmony
- Best Played With: Skill Point-heavy teams (eg, Jing Yuan, Silver Wolf, Huohuo)
Those players who rely heavily on skill points will definitely want Sparkle on their teams. While she can buff the damage output of characters, her skill point restoration mechanic allows the team to simply spam their skills without a care in the world. Pair this with her ultimate that increases damage dealt every time the player uses a skill point, and the enemies will crumble instantly.
If that wasn’t enough, Sparkle’s individual skill causes the target ally’s action to advance forward by 50 percent, letting them get their turn quicker. That too, while increasing that ally’s critical damage based on Sparkle’s critical damage.
4. Sunday
- Rarity: 5-star
- Type: Imaginary
- Path: Harmony
- Best Played With: Teams with Remembrance units
Fan-favorite Sunday is on the path to becoming one of the best supports in the game. Being primarily a support for Remembrance units, Sunday will likely be invaluable in Honkai: Star Rail 2.7 and beyond since most of those units are on the way. This character not only boosts the damage of allies but also their summons, allowing for massive carnage.
If that wasn’t enough, Sunday can also give ally characters and their summons an extra turn using his skill. His skill also removes a debuff, allowing allies to shine their brightest. Finally, we have to talk about his ultimate that gives allies energy while also increasing their critical damage, making that shine even brighter.
5. Aventurine
- Rarity: 5-star
- Type: Imaginary
- Path: Preservation
- Best Played With: Squishy teams (eg, Topaz, Dr. Ratio, Robin)
If longevity is your goal then Aventurine is the support character you want. This Preservation character can produce consistent shields for the entire party with his skill and follow-up attacks. This allows the player to have passive shields that keep any member from going down.
If that wasn’t enough, one use of Aventurine’s ultimate can increase the critical damage taken by one enemy. The bottom line is that the enemy will fall quickly while your team will last longer. Sounds like a win-win situation for the player.
6. Luocha
- Rarity: 5-star
- Type: Imaginary
- Path: Abundance
- Best Played With: Skill point-heavy teams (eg, Silver Wolf, Welt, Fu Xuan)
Luocha is arguably the most traditional healer in the game. Not only can he heal a lot of health for team members, but he can also cleanse debuffs or cancel buffs for enemies, making him excellent for longevity. Pair this with his healing field, which heals the entire team any time someone on the team attacks. Passive healing is a go.
Unlike the skill-point-heavy Sparkle, Luocha’s biggest highlight is he doesn’t need to use skill points. After all, his skill can automatically trigger when an ally’s health falls below 50 percent.
7. Bronya
- Rarity: 5-star
- Type: Wind
- Path: Harmony
- Best Played With: All teams
Being a standard roster character, Bronya is often overlooked. However, she’s one of the best support characters in Honkai: Star Rail, largely thanks to the fact that she can manipulate the turn order. Bronya’s skill ensures the targeted ally moves directly after her, allowing for some major tag-team potential. Of course, it helps that the ally’s damage is increased while their debuffs are removed.
The best time to use this skill is around the time Bronya uses her ultimate. This support character’s ultimate provides a teammate’s attack a sizable buff while also increasing their critical damage based on Bronya’s same stat.
8. Huohuo
- Rarity: 5-star
- Type: Wind
- Path: Abundance
- Best Played With: Ultimate-reliant teams (eg, Acheron, Sunday, Aventurine)
This cowardly Abundance character is often overlooked in exchange for other support characters, but she’s an excellent sustainer. Not only can she regenerate health passively but her skill is one of the best of any support characters.
Huohuo’s skill dispels one debuff from the selected ally while healing not only them but also the allies adjacent to them. Additionally, it also gives Huohuo two stacks that are used to heal allies and clean their debuffs either at the start of the turn or when they use their ultimate.
We haven’t even gotten to this support character’s ultimate yet. Huohuo’s ultimate grants an attack buff to the entire team while also regenerating everyone’s energy.
